The Citadel of Virtue, home of the Warriors of Virtue. Many great fighters and warriors have been a part of this once proud organization located on the southern shore of the western half of Tasribin.

July 04. Sappers aren't great fighters, but they are great at diversions. Have your Sappers make lots of smoke bombs and chuck them into a group of bad guys. If you happen to be in a party with Centaurs, have the Centaurs charge into the smoke with weapons swinging. Lots of damage and confusion will ensue.

June 04. If you are a Warrior, try turning into a Gladiator at Level 3. Yes, you have to fight for the title, but then you get to attack with two hands. This combined with the +3/+3 blessing you can get from a Shaman makes you a formidable killing machine.

May 04. Calling all Dragoons! You don't jump! Oh, wait, you probably knew that. But you do like to throw things. Don't get stuck just throwing weapons, work on throwing grappling hooks and ropes as well. Using this as a hobby can help you out of some tight situations.

Apr 04. If you are a Martial Artist and you are tough enough to fight with your fists, try buying a set of magic brass knuckles that will not take away your punching bonus, but give you much more power in your hit.

Mar 04. Make wise investments in magical armor. If you're going to buy magic armor, don't just settle for a -1 AC. Much more important would be armor with a certain spell protection or armor that is magically comfortable and non-chafing so you can sleep in it easier. It's never a good idea to fight monsters with little or no sleep because you thought it would be fun to sleep in scale mail!

Feb 04. Mend your armor and take care of your weapons. It is possible for weapons to break and armor to get worn out in WOV. We generally don't worry about it too much, but it still happens. By simply taking a look at your armor after a fight and fixing any dents or loose pieces, it will last much longer. The same applies to your weapons. Cleaning your weapon after each short quest and sharpening it will keep it in much better condition. It will also remind the GM to break other people's weapons who don't take such good care of theirs! (Oooo...evil!)

Jan 04. Try picking a Polearm as an Other Proficiency, like a flail or morning star. These weapons are very strong and they are also intimidating. Imagine a huge knight running towards you swinging a flail, pretty scary right? These weapons do mega damage and hit well on top of that. Just remember that you can't use a shield with these weapons. But it should balance out cause you'll kill the enemy much faster!

Dec 03. Remeber that Rangers are tree-huggers at heart. They revere life and don't kill easily. This prompts their brief code of ethics found in the rule book. Make sure to follow some sort of Ranger code. You don't have to use the one in the rule book, you can make up your own as long as it is GM approved. Rangers probably wouldn't chop down a tree for firewood, but instead gather what is already dead. They are not ridiculous in their beliefs, unless your character is, just wise stewards of Onin's resources.

Nov 03. Fighters can seem boring at first glance since they are basically just normal people who are tough. You can spice up any fighter with a good hobby. Imagine a fighter with a hobby of gadgets. He could build all sorts of cool claws, grappling hooks, sword breakers and anything else you can think of. Just make sure to get your hobbies and their attributes approved by the GM before using them.

Oct 03. When playing a Paladin, make sure to stick to the Code of Honor. This is the heart and soul of a paladin and they really believe in it. This will often times lead to awkward situations in the game, but that will make it more interesting and fun. At the same time, don't take it to the extreme (unless that is in your character's nature) because there are times when a paladin will have to choose to between different pieces of the code that conflict. This doesn't mean that he shouldn't make a choice, but that he should put effort into making it. Paladins are tough to play well, but can be very interesting.

Sept 03. When playing a fighter-type try picking a range weapon as your Other Proficiency. Most fighters will pick different swords to use, but the difference between swords is negligible in the long run, except for a 2-handed sword or magic one. A range weapon, like a bow or shuriken, may seem a little awkward, but will let you get in a few attacks before the enemy is upon you. This can really come in handy in large fights where you are better off staying behind cover and pelting the enemies from afar.

Aug 03. When playing a fighter-type player try picking a dagger as your Other Proficiency. You'll probably always use your main two proficiency weapons as a figther, but it's always nice to be able to throw a dagger when you need it. If you have it as your Other Proficiency, you'll get a +1/+1 bonus. Since a dagger is weak, you'll need the bonus. Plus daggers are useful for other things such as hand and footholds when trying to climb something, a concealed weapon, skinning animals for food, cutting stuff to set traps, etc.
